Colored BoardsSmall socket Colored motherboards are a lower grade of PC motherboard. They are the ones that are colored any color other than green. They also sometimes have colored memory slots as well. The industry is trying very hard to use less and less gold and other presious metals in the manufacturing of motherboards. These low value boards are a result of that effort. They include any boards that have main cpu sockets that are smaller than 2 1/8 inches and are NOT GREEN. They include but are not lilmited to the Socket 478, 754,775 and 939 family of motherboards. These boards have CPU's such as Pentium 4, Athlon, Sempron, Celeron D and others.
